Based in Rutland, Peter de Kremer first reconditioned a Miller Dynamo in 1973. Since then he has specialised in overhauling and repairing hundreds of dynamos and magnetos.

Dynamos
We can now make your old Miller DVR-D6, DM3G or Lucas E3L as good or even better than new! 
Miller dynamos for Velocette, Vincent and Rudge motorcycles are a particular specialty. We can do what others can't or won't. 

Magnetos
All models of Lucas and BTH magnetos can be reconditioned to as new condition and this also now includes Magdynos.
Banish those hardstarting problems!!

Service exchange
is available for almost all types of dynamo, magneto or magdyno, or alternatively a large stock is available for outright sale (BTH and Lucas competition models please enquire).

Manual advance and retard conversions to your own magneto are also usually available for BTH and Lucas.

Work is only done according to what is needed. A total recondition of a dynamo including new armature, new field coil, new bearings, new brushes and brush springs, re-plated body, ultrasonically cleaned commutator and drive end castings, re-wire for use with a solid state electronic cut-out/regulator costs £260 for Miller or £230 for Lucas E3L. For Magnetos, the total maximum price to recondition a Lucas K1F is usually in the order of £290, but this is dependent on condition and is very often less if items such as the slip ring, HT pickup, etc. are in excellent condition and can be reused. For a twin magneto the cost is usually another £30 due to extra components and complexity (e.g. a cam ring on a twin magneto will always need re-grinding or replacing to ensure proper spark alignment of exactly 180° - see further information on magneto testing below). See the magneto services page for details and options.
  • Service Exchange is often possible for more common dynamos and magnetos (such as Miller DVR and D6V dynamos and Lucas K1F and K2F magnetos).
  • I will recondition yours for the sake of originality if so required
  • Costs are reduced if the original dynamo armature is good and can be reused – if not it can be rewound.
  • Magneto armatures by now are usually over 60 years old and will almost always need rewinding and a new capacitor installed. Just replacing the capacitor can on occasion work, but we strongly advise a complete rewind for best and longest-lasting results.
  • Dynamos when used with LED headlight, electronic regulator, and a toothed belt drive system should have many completely trouble free years of use with hugely improved and reliable lighting for night riding.

within 1 week. Alternatively turn around time for reconditioning your original dynamo or magneto is usually within 4 weeks for a dynamo and 6 weeks for a magneto.
I now have thousands of spare parts for all types of Lucas E3L and E3N dynamos and can build one to as new specification according to your type of motorcycle.
