ModernisingAll reconditioned Miller Dynamos will have the original mechanical cut out removed and be rewired for use with a modern electronic voltage regulator / cutout, this would include all new terminal posts nuts and screws.
It is strongly recommended that a belt drive, such as the Velocette Owner's Club system, be used and LED headlight and taillight installed which will give many completely trouble free years of use with hugely improvd and reliable lighting for both day and night riding. 12 volt conversions
12 V armatures and field coils are available for Lucas dynamos which enable them to run at 12 V at low RPM. (it is possible to run a 6 V dynamo at 12 V just by using a 12 V voltage regulator but there is a drawback in that 12 V is not achieved until nearly double the RPM). Miller dynamos can now also be converted to 12 V output, although in this case the original armature has to be re-wound for 12 V with a new commutator and a brand new 12 V field coil installed to the correct 4.2 Ω Miller specification. Please contact us for further information regarding this conversion.

Actual prices vary according to what work is necessary, for example your dynamo might not need a new field coil or armature if the originals are still in good condition. Work will only be undertaken that is necessary, for example just a rewire, new bearings and new brushes might be all that is needed to bring your dynamo back to full working order.
Armatures and field coils will be fully tested on a Growler armature tester and resistance tested respectively to determine their condition and whether they are suitable to be reused.
Prices below include new brushes, brush springs, rewired with new terminal posts, new bearings, new field coil screws, new through bolts, re-plated dynamo body, new bearings, and repainted end cover.
Full recondition if your original armature and field coil are in good condition and do not require replacing - £180.
Full recondition if original armature is in good condition but a new field coil is required - £200.
Total recondition if new armature and field coil are required - £260.
Total recondition with your original armature and field coil rewound including brand new commutator using all new modern insulating materials - £280.
Upon receiving your dynamo, I will completely dismantle and inspect it to see what work is necessary and give you a quote for the parts and work required. No work will be done before a report is made to you on its condition. If you decide not to proceed with any restoration, there will be an inspection charge of £30.
